"Well, my dear, after you have lived for hundreds of years, murdered hundreds of your best friends, and brought entire kingdoms to their knees by yourself, you will allow yourself a small bit of arrogance as well." he smiled grimly. "Let us leave this subject. Perhaps you would like to tell me. How did you ever get involved in all of this?"

"I don't remember." She said, but the words were only half a lie.

"Hmm. That's....interesting. Where did you learn to fight like you do? Your style is.....familiar to me....but, I cannot place it. And I was wondering....how did you get...."involved" with the Traitor?" he spoke quietly.

"I learned to fight from lots of people, and mostly one's I didn't know. Fighting is surviving." She stated, her mind turning away from the question. "With difficulty." She laughed at the emphasis he placed on involved.

"I can't imagine it was very hard. Since the death of Nalthurion the black dragons have been a bit....stupid." He chuckled to himself. "If he were here today..... you would have been taken in by him. He would have taught you the true ways of Dragons. I regret that you had to learn about them from....."Him."

"You dislike him, don't you?"

"Of course. He betrayed his own kind. He killed his own Father, then proceeded to allow you the throne. Which could upset everything. He is a worthless slug. I would have preferred if you had been the one given the throne but, Nelthurion said it was you who was supposed to be taken."

"Speak a clearer, please." She asked softly.

"You and the Traitor were the candidates for the throne. Nelthurion told his Father and.......I that we would have to decide who would succeed Ilthraz...the traitor's father. After a long debate we told the traitor that he would succeed the throne. And that one day You would be there beside him. Now that I have seen what happened I would rather that you would have been given the throne. That way Nelthurion would have been able to leave you a message at Ember's palace. And I find the that I do despise the Traitor, Ilthraz would have been able to teach you a lot. But, since your "Husband" murdered him in his sleep, the only one left to help me is you.....That clear enough your Highness?" he spoke with no malice in his voice.

"My 'husband' has no true power here. Why go through all that trouble just to give it up to me?" She asked, slightly confused. "And how am I to help you?"

"The trouble wasn't to give you the power. The struggle was to try to get you, the traitor, and Ember to form a bond. To come together as family, so, that when Ilthraz and I had to do our jobs, you would be ready. And with Riders to help you no less. But, something...happened to the Traitor, he became angry at Ilthraz. He and I are still trying to figure that one out. You know how you are going to help me already. You, your son, Xader's Son, Myra, Slickblade, Jaklyn, Nik, Ehrkzhan, and even Ember and her Court, are going to help bring an old man and his dragon to a final peaceful rest." he smiled sadly. "And, I wish I could stay in this world with all of you amazing people."

"I will not work side by side with Myra." She hissed the words. "I'd much rather work with Ember. She is a skillful, if ideallic leader.''

"It is too bad that you will not work with Myra. I was so hoping that you could work together for the Survival of Elexa. You will find in time that there is much more to her than you or I can see. In a few years you and her are going to be finding that you have much more amazing powers than you do now. It is odd to me, Dragons' power does not grow when they are around other Dragons. Half-Dragons however, are just the opposite. Which is why Xader and yourself are so evenly matched. And if you do plan do survive, you will need Ember's and Myra's help." he spoke evenly and slowly.

"Why do I need the help of a pitiful barmaid who has her man rushing to save her at every moment?" She asked, truly curious.

"She is not going to have him. He is going to lose his powers.....And she is going to gain powers. Why do you have so much disdain for this woman? Is it not human nature that guides us to seek better lives? What is it that you have against her?" he spoke quietly.
